let the no. of student be x

no. of banana each student get=250/x

so if no of student is increased by 25 total student =x+25

so the no. of banana they get in each case =

 \frac{250}{x + 25}  = \frac{ \frac{250}{x} }{2}

 \frac{250}{x + 25 }  = \frac{250}{2x}

500x = 250x + 6250

250x = 6250

x =  \frac{6250}{250}

x = 25

Let the required number of students be x .

Number of bananas each student get = 250/x

If there were x + 25 students, then number of bananas each student get = 250/x + 25 .

★ According to the question,

Bananas for each student in 1st case - Bananas for each student in 2nd case = ½

: \implies \frac{250}{x}  -  \frac{250}{ x + 25}  =  \frac{1}{2}

:  \implies \frac{250(x + 25) - 250x}{x(x + 25)}  =  \frac{1}{2}

:  \implies  \frac{250 \times 25}{x(x + 25)}  =  \frac{1}{2}

 :  \implies x(x + 25) = 2 \times 250 \times 25

:  \implies {x}^{2}  + 25x = 12500

:  \implies {x}^{2}  + 25x - 12500 = 0

:  \implies {x}^{2}  - 100x + 125x - 12500 = 0

:  \implies x(x - 100) + 125(x - 100) = 0

:  \implies(x + 125)(x - 100) = 0

:  \implies \: x =  - 125 \: and \: x = 100

But , as the number of students cannot be negative.

Hence, required number of students = 100 students.
