If we mix 250 ml of water and 250 ml of alcohol ,then a mixture of 500 ml diluted alcohol is generally expected.
But in the real scenario, only 480 ml of diluted alcohol is generated because when water and alcohol reacts with each other they form strong hydrogen bonds among their molecules which reduces the molecular spacing and the allover volume is also reduced.
For this reason the final solution is 20 ml less than the normal expectation.
