Hello friend!!
Rajdeep here...
Reaction is:
2C2H6 + 7O2 ------> 4CO2 + 6H2O
Hence, volume ratio is 2:7:4
2 volumes of Ethane = 600cc
Hence, 1 volume of ethane = 600/2 = 300cc
7 volumes of oxygen = 2500cc
Hence, 1 volume of oxygen = 2500/7 = 357.14cc
One volume of ethane is less than that of oxygen, this means that ethane is fully used in the reaction and oxygen is unused, so we will take the one volume of C2H6, I.e., 300cc for calculation.
So volume of oxygen used in the reaction is
7 x 300cc = 2100cc.
So unused O2 is 2500 - 2100 = 400cc
Also, volume of CO2 formed = 4 x 300cc = 1200cc.
Hope you understand this process..
This is an uncommon but easy process...
Thanks!!
