Total number of students=2500

no of girls= 1100

no of boys= 2500-1100=1400

50% of the boys passed the exam,

no of boys who passed the exam= (1400*50)/100= 700

40% of the girls passed the exam,

No of girls who passed the exam= (1100*40)/100= 440

total no of students who passed= 700+440= 1140

no of students who failed the exam= 2500-1140= 1360

percentage of students who failed the exam= (1360/2500)*100%= 54.4%.

Ans=54.4%
