Given that,

254x + 309y = - 55  ------ (i)
 
309x + 254y = 55. -------- (ii)

To find,

The value of x & y.

Solution,

Now, add both the equation (i) & (ii)

We get,

$563x + 563 y = (-55 + 55) = 0$

Now, 

$563x = -563 y.$

Now cancel 563 both the sides.

Then,

x = -y  &  x+y = 0.

Now,  Substitute x value in any one equation,

Then,

$254(-y) + 309y = -55$

[tex] 55 y = -55.[/tex]

⇒ $y= \frac{-55}{55} = -1$

We know that, 

x + y = 0.        ( Substituting y value)

x - 1 = 0.

Then, x = 1.
