26. A balloon is rising upwards with an acceleration. A
stone is dropped from the balloon, when the balloon is
at a height of 50.4 m. The stone reaches the ground
after 6 s. What was the velocity of the balloon when the
stone was dropped?

Answer:

21.6m/s

distance fallen down by the stone=50.4m

time taken=6s

as soon as the stone is released ,acceleration 'g' acts in vertically downward direction and the initial velocity of the stone is 'u' in upward direction because it continues to move upward sometime till it's velocity becomes zero

now applying S=ut+1/2gt^2

50.4=u.6+1/2(-10)6^2

on solving,u=21.6m/s which is equal to the velocity of balloon
