26. A body of mass 100 g is thrown vertically upward with a velocity 20 m/s. Upto what height will the
body rise? How much will be the total energy of the body at that height ? (g = 10 m/s?)

When an object is thrown upward,it's final velocity becomes zero at its maximum height.

So,

U=20m/s , v=0

We know that,

V^2=u^2+2gh

V^2=u^2+2(-g)h ( because the action is against gravity)

0=20^2-2×10×h (g=10m/s^2)

400=20h

h=20m

Now, at the maximum height we will only consider potential energy as v=0.So,kinetic energy will be zero.

m=0.1kg , h=20m, g=10m/s^2

So, E=mgh

E=0.1×10×20

E=20J
