Answer:

(a)X lies on the left hand side of the periodic table.Its periodic number is 3 and group number is 17.

Y lies on right hand side of the periodic table.Its periodic number is 4 and group number is 2

(b)X is a non metal while Y is a metal

(c)the nature of oxide of y is basic oxide.

(d)They has ionic bonding

(e) sorry mate i don't know how to post pic...but i can give u hint..u can do it by sharing of electrons just like we form in nacl...hope it helps u

As the atomic numbers are given so

Element X is CHLORINE (Cl)

Element Y is CALCIUM (Ca)

In the periodic table X is placed in 17th group and 3rd period.

Y is placed in 2nd group and in 4th period.

X is a non metal as it is a halogen.

Y is metal as it lies between 1-12th group.

Nature of oxide of Y will be basic as it is a metal.

Nature of bonding will be IONIC BOND.

Hey buddy draw the electron dot structure of CaCl2 as

Ca = 2,8,8,2

Cl= 2,8,7
