SOLUTION

The above problem can be simoly solved as follows;

Mass of water = 72 grams

Moles of water = Given mas/Molar mass

= 72/18 = 4 moles.

Mass of ethyl alcohol = 92 grams

Moles of ethyl alcohol = 92/46 = 2 moles

Total moles = 2 + 4 = 6 moles

Mole fraction of water = Moles of water/Total moles

= 4/6 = 0.66

Mole fraction of ethyl alcohol = 1 - 0.66 = 0.34

Hence, Mole fraction of water is 0.66 moles and mole fraction of ethyl alcohol is 0.34
