26 Read the source given below and answer the following questions -
Our national flag is one of the national symbols. It symbolises our national life, its culture
and the aspirations of the people of this great ancient land. It is rectangular in shape. It has
three bands- saffron at the top, white at the centre and green at the bottom with a twenty
four spiked wheel in the middle. The white in the middle stands for truth, peace and purity.
The wheel at the centre stands for progress. The green at the bottom stands for prosperity
and plenty.
Our flag is very sacred. It is hoisted on national festivals. We salute it and sing the flag’s song
and the national anthem. It is flown on Government buildings every day. It is flown half-mast
on days of national mourning. Disrespect to the flag is unpatriotic and an act of disrespect to
the nation.
