27. a body at rest is thrown downward from the top of tower. Draw a distance-time graph of its free fall under
gravity during first 3 seconds. Show your table of values starting t=0 with an interval of 1 second. (g= 10 m per second)

Answer:

The body is dropped from rest so, u=0

When the body dropped its speed increases and hence its displacement also increases.

From the equation of motion

S= ut + ½ at2

u=0 ,a=10 m/s2

Time (t in seconds) Displacement (s in metres)

t= 0                                     s= 0+1/2 X 10 X 0 = 0

t= 1                                    s= 0+1/2 X 10 X 1 2 = 5

t= 2                                    s= 0+1/2 X 10 X 2 2 = 20

t= 3                                     s= 0+1/2 X 10 X 3 2 = 45

The graph will be a curve starting from origin as displacement is directly proportional to square of time
