Answer:

Isotopes are the chemical entities that have same atomic number but have different atomic masses. Implies,they have same no.of protons but difficult no.of neutrons.

Examples:

Sodium has both atomic masses of 22 and 23

Uranium has many isotopes;234,235,237 etc

Uses of isotopes:

1) Uranium 237 is used for producing nuclear fuel

2)Cobalt 60 is used to treat cancer

3) Isotopes are used in medical industries,warfare etc.

Explanation:

a}

Isotope → Isotopes are atoms with the same number of protons, but differ in numbers of neutrons. Isotopes are different forms of a single element.

Example - Carbon 12 and Carbon 14 are both isotopes of carbon, one with 6 neutrons and one with 8 neutrons.

b}

  1. An isotope of uranium is used as a fuel in nuclear reactors.
  2. An isotope of cobalt is used in the treatment of cancer
