1.The number of elements discovered has increased, making it difficult to remember the behavior and properties of these elements. Hence it is important to classify elements according to their properties. ... It helps us understand how different elements form different compounds.

2.1- Increasing atomic masses of the elements. 2- Elements with similar chemical properties were placed in a group. He suggested that the properties of the elements are periodic functions of their atomic masses. This was known as periodic law.

3.Mendeleev left some gaps in his periodic table because he believed that in future more elements will be discovered. He predicted the existence of some elements and named them by prefixing a Sanskrit numeral, Eka(one).
