Let the length be l and breadth be b

according to the question

l=5b−4

Since ,

Perimeter,

P=2[l+b]

40=2[5b−4+b]

40=12b−8

12b=48

b=4

l=5×4−4

l=20−4

l=16

Therefore Length of the rectangle is 16m

Answer:

Let the breadth of rectangle be x m.

So, five times of breadth = 5x

Therefore, length of rectangle = (5x – 4) m Perimeter of rectangle = 40 m

⇒ 2(x + 5x – 4) = 40

⇒ 2(6x – 4) = 40

⇒ 6x – 4 = 20

⇒ 6x = 20 + 4 = 24

⇒ x = 24/6 = 4

Thus, length of rectangle = (5 × 4 – 4) = 16 m
