27. The sum of the areas of two squares is 640 m. If the difference between their perimeters is 64m, then find
sides of the square.

Answer:

let the area of the first square be x and

area of other square be y

x+y= 640........(1)

x-y= 64..............(2)

subtract 1and2

x+y=640

-

x-y=64

___________

y=576

x+y=640

but y=576

x+576=640

x=264

area of 1st square=side's square

264 = side square

16.24= side

similarly ,area of 2nd square= 24

let the first square be X and another square be Y

In 1st case

area of square. = (side)²

X²+Y²= 640____________(i)

In 2nd case

4X-4Y = 64

X-Y=16

X =16+Y

put value of X in 1

(16) ²+ = 640

2Y²+ 32Y=384

Y²+ 16Y= 192

+24Y-8Y-192 = 0

Y(Y+24) - 8(Y+24) =0

Y=8

and X= 24
