Answer:

(a)Air pollution can directly contaminate the surface of bodies of water and soil. This can kill crops or reduce their yield. It can kill young trees and other plants. Sulfur dioxide and nitrogen oxide particles in the air, can create acid rain when they mix with water and oxygen in the atmosphere.

(b)Pathogens(viruses, bacteria, fungi, protozoa etc)are biological pollutants of water. They cause typhoid, cholera, dysentery, jaundice, hepatitis. 2)Removal of desirable substance from water bodies: With increase in the amount of organic waste the bacteria multiply rapidly and use up the available oxygen.

(c)Recycling and Reuse of wastes: To minimize soil pollution, the wastes such as paper, plastics, metals, glasses, organics, petroleum products and industrial effluents etc should be recycled and reused. Ex: Industrial wastes should be properly treated at source. Integrated waste treatment methods should be adopted.
