28. (a) 0.5 mole each of H 2 S and SO 2 mixed together in a reaction flask, react according to equation 2H 2 S+SO 2 2H 2 O+3S Calculate the number of moles of S formed.​

Here,

2H2S + SO2 = 2H2O + 3S

2 moles 1mole 2mole 3 moles

On the basis of balanced chemical equation, it is clear that-

2moles of H2S combine with SO2 to produce 3 moles of S

So, 1 mole of H2S combines with SO2 to produce 3/2 mole of S

i.e. 0.5 mole of H2S combines with SO2 to produce 3/2 ×0.5 mole of S

= 0.75 mole of S

Therefore, no. of moles formed = 0.75 mole
