let x  - 1 = 0

then x = 1

putting value of x in equation

p[1] = 2 [1]^2 + k[1] + √2 = 0     [let it be 0]

p[1] = 2 + k + √2 = 0                [let it be 0]

p[1] =  k + √2 = 0 - 2

p[1] = k = -2 ^2                         [when we pass under root to other side of =                            

                                                                      we change the symbol in square]

so, k = -2 ^2  ,  which is 4

the value of k in given equation is 4
