28.Sum of digits of a two digit number is 14. When 18 is added to the original
number, then the new number is obtained by exchanging the digits of the
original number. Express the statements in equation.​

Solution :

Statement 1 -

The sum of the digits of a two digit number is 14 .

Let us assume that the two digits of the number are a and b .

Expressing this in equation form -

=> a + b = 14 .

Statement 2 -

When 18 is added to the original number , the new number is obtained by exchanging the digits of the original number .

Let us assume that the two digits of the number are a and b .

Expressing this in equation form -

ab + 18 = ba

=> 10a + b + 18 = 10 b + a

=> 9a + 18 = 9b

=> a + 3 = b

=> a - b = -3.

This is the required answer.
