• The coastal regions of India are noted for agriculture, trade, industrial centers, tourist centers, fishing and salt making.
• And all this provide important hinterlands for big ports.
• Many parts of the Indian coastal plains have rich, fertile soil on which, apart from rice, a large variety of crops are grown.
• India has more than 89000 of animals species, It has more than 1200 species of birds. Which means it constitute 13% of world's total.
• Also there are 2500 species of fish, which account for nearly 12% of the world's stock. Which means it shares between 5 and 8 per cent of the world's amphibians, reptiles and mammals.
• India has long coastline, which helps India for its economic growth.
• India has very long coastline and it measures about 7516.6 Km bordering the mainland ad the islands with the Bay of Bengal in the East, the Indian Ocean on the South and the Arabian Sea on the West.
• Hence, India is rich with its coastline.
