ANSWER:

GIVEN:

  • 2a³+4ba²+2ab²

TO FIND:

  • Factorise the above expression.

SOLUTION:

= 2a³+4ba²+2ab²

= a(2a²+4ab+2b²)

= a(2a²+2ab+2ab+2b²)

= a[(2a²+2ab)+(2ab+2b²)]

= a[2a(a+b)+2b(a+b)]

= a(a+b)(2a+2b)

= 2a(a+b)(a+b)

Another method:

= 2a³+4ba²+2ab²

= 2a(a²+2ab+b²)

= 2a(a+b)²

= 2a(a+b)(a+b)

NOTE:

Some important formulas:

  • (a+b)² = ++2ab
  • (a-b)² = +-2ab
  • (a+b)³ = ++3ab(a+b)
  • (a-b)³ = a³+b³-3ab(a-b)
