Since

 {(x + y)}^{2}  =  {x}^{2}  + 2xy +  {y}^{2}

x = 2a \\ y = 3b

 =  {x}^{2}  + 2xy +  {y}^{2}

 {(2a)}^{2}  + 2 \times 2a  \times 3b +  {(3b)}^{2}

4 {a}^{2}  + 12ab + 9 {b}^{2}
