Question

2a+b=6;5a+b=10solve the following equation simultaneously

answer

by substitution methord

here we can see a comman term b so we will eliminate it

then by substacting equation 2nd from 1st

2a + b = 6

5a + b = 10

- - -

------------------

-3a = -4

so a = 4/3

then b

by putting value of a in equation 1

2(4/3)+b = 6

8/3 + b = 6

b \:  =  6 - \frac{8}{3}  \\  \\ b =  \frac{18 - 8}{3}  \\  \\ b =  \frac{10}{3}

then \: value \: of \: a \: and \: b \: are \:  \frac{4}{3} \:  and \:  \frac{10}{3} \:  respectivally

hope it helps
