AD is bisector of angle BAC

=> angle CAP = angle BAP

angle CPD = angle BPD

=> 180° - angle CPD = 180° - angle BPD

=> angle CPA = angle BPA (linear pairs)

To prove: ∆CAP ~= ∆BAP and CP = BP.

Proof:

In ∆CAP and ∆BAP,

angle CAP = angle BAP (given)

angle CPA = angle BPA (proved)

AP = AP (common)

Therefore, CAP ~= BAP by ASA congruence.

=> CP = BP (Corresponding parts of congruent triangle).
