What were the major recommendations of wood's Despatch?

ANSWER -

In 1854, the Government declared its intention of " creating a properly articulated syatem of education from primary to thr university stage ". Sir Charles Wood sent a Dispatch to the Governor - General of India Lord Dalhousie with some reccomendations. This is famous as Wood's Dispatch.

Reccomendations -

Setting up of education departments in the Provinces.

Universities to be set up in each of the Presidency towns of Calcutta, Bombay and Madras.

Government schools to be opened in each district.

Govenment grants to be given to private schools and colleges,

Indian Educatiuon Service to be introduced to recruit teachers for government insitutions.
