Given; the pair of equation
2p + 3q =13 -------- (1)
5p - 4 q = -2---------(2)
Now;
(1)* 5 = 10p + 15 q = 65
(2)*2 = 10p - 8 q. = - 4
(-) (+) (+)
-----------------------------------
= 23q = 69
= q = 69/23
= q =3
Now putting the value of q in equation (1)
we get;
2p + 3q = 13
2p + 3(3) = 13
2p + 9 = 13
2p = 13-9
p = 4/2
p= 2

therefore;
p = 2 and
q = 3
