Given :

2 tables and 3 chairs together cost Rs. 20000 where as 3 tables and 2 chairs together cost Rs.25000

To Find :

Total cost of 1 table and 5 chairs

Solution :

Let cost of 1 table be x

Cost of 1 chair = y

2 tables and 3 chairs together cost Rs. 20000

➠ 2x + 3y = 20000

➠ 3 ( 2x + 3y ) = 3 ( 20000 )

6x + 9y = 60000 ... (1)

3 tables and 2 chairs together cost Rs.25000

➳ 3x + 2y = 25000

➳ 2 ( 3x + 2y ) = 2 ( 25000 )

6x + 4y = 50000 ... (2)

Solve (1) - (2) ,

➙ ( 6x + 9y ) - ( 6x + 4y ) = 60000 - 50000

➙ 9y - 4y = 10000

➙ 5y = 10000

y = 2000  \pink{\bigstar}

Sub. y value in (2) ,

➤ 6x + 4 ( 2000 ) = 50000

➤ 6x + 8000 = 50000

➤ 6x = 50000 - 8000

➤ 6x = 42000

x = 7000  \orange{\bigstar}

So , Cost of 1 table and 5 chairs is ,

➠ 1x + 5y

➠ ( 7000 ) + 5 ( 2000 )

➠ 7000 + 10000

17000  \green{\bigstar}

Answer :

✍Given :

2 tables and 3 chairs together cost rupees 2000 Rs 3 tables

2 chairs together cost rupees 2500

✍To find :

The total cost of one table and 5 chairs =?

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the cost of a table and a chair be ₹ x and ₹ y respectively.

The cost of 2 tables and 3 chairs = ₹ 2000

2x + 3y = 2000 .... (1)

The cost of 3 tables and 2 chairs = ₹ 2500

3x + 2y = 2500 .... (2)

Multiplying (1) by 2 and (2) by 3, we get

4x + 6y = 4000 .... (3)

9x + 6y = 7500 .... (4)

Subtracting (3) from (4), we get

5x = 3500

x = 3500/5

x = 700.

Putting x = 700 in (1),we get

2 × 700 + 3y = 2000

1400 + 3y = 2000

3y = 600

y = 600/3

y = 200

✍Now,

The cost of 1 table and 5 chairs = ₹ ( 700 + 5 × 200) = ₹ 1700

Therefore, The cost of 1 table and 5 chairs = ₹ 1700.
