(2x+1)(2x-1)-(2x+1)(2x+1)
= (2x+1)(2x-1)-(2x+1)^2
Using formulas
(a+b)(a-b)= a^2 - b^2
(a+b)^2 = a^2 + b^2 + 2ab
We have
(2x+1)(2x-1)-(2x+1)^2
= (2x)^2 - 1 - [(2x)^2 + 1^2 + 2(2x)(1)]
= 4x^2 -1 -[4x^2 + 1 + 4x]
= 4x^2 -1 - 4x^2 - 1 - 4x
= -1 -1 - 4x
= -2 -4x
= -4x-2
You can stop with the above step or if you want to simplify further you can write it as
= -2(2x+1)
