Answer:

Solution is x=10 and y=6 (Done Through Elimination Method)

Step-by-step explanation:

i) (2x + 1) / 7 + (5y - 3) / 3 = 12

3(2x + 1) + 7(5y - 3) = 12 x 21

6x + 3 + 35y - 21 = 252

6x + 35y  = 252 + 18

6x + 35y  = 270 -----(1)

ii) (3x + 2) / 2 - (4y + 3) / 9 = 13

9(3x + 2) - 2(4y + 3) = 13 x 18

27x + 18 - 8y -6 = 234

27x - 8y + 12 = 234

27x - 8y  = 222 -----(2)

Eq(1) × 9,

9(6x+35y) = 270 × 9

54x + 315y = 2430 -----(3)

Eq(2) × 2,

2(27x - 8y) = 222 × 2

54x - 16y = 444 ----(4)

Eq(3)- Eq(4) gives,

(54x + 315y) - (54x - 16y) = 2430 - 444

331y= 1986

y = 6

Substitute y=6 in eq(1),

6x + 35 × 6  = 270

6x = 270 - 210

x = 60/6

x = 10

∴ x = 10 and y = 6
