  • The value of x in the given expression is equal to (-1) .

To Find :-

  • Solve for x :- 2x - 18 = (-20)

Solution :-

→ 2x - 18 = (-20)

using transposing method and changing minus sign of the term into plus sign on the other side and vice - versa we get,

→ 2x = (-20) + 18

→ 2x = (-2)

→ 2x = 2 × (-1)

dividing both sides by (-1) we get,

→ x = (-1) (Ans.)

Verification :-

→ 2x - 18 = (-20)

putting value of x as (-1) in the given expression,

→ 2 × (-1) - 18 = (-20)

→ (-2) - 18 = (-20)

→ (-1)(2 + 18) = (-20)

→ (-1) × 20 = (-20)

→ (-20) = (-20)

→ LHS = RHS

therefore, the value of x in the given expression is equal to (-1) .
