here

  • a = 2
  • b= -5
  • c=1

let alpha be the one of the roots which is equal to 7/2 and beta be another

sum of the roots = alpha + beta = -b/a

7/2 + beta = -(-5)/2

beta = 5/2 -7/2

beta = -2/2

beta = -1

and

product of roots = alpha × beta = c/a

7/2 (-1) = k/2

k= -7
