Step-by-step explanation:

\sf 2{x}^{2} + 7x - 9 \\ \\ \sf 2{x}^{2} - 2x + 9x - 9 \\ \\ \sf 2x ( x - 1 ) + 9 ( x - 1 ) \\ \\ \sf (x-1)(2x+9)

SOLUTION :

\sf 2x^2 + 7x - 9

\sf = 2x^2 + ( 9 - 2 ) x - 9

\sf = 2x^2 + 9x - 2x - 9

\sf = x ( 2x + 9 ) - 1 ( 2x + 9 )

\sf = ( x - 1 ) ( 2x + 9 )

Now,

  • x - 1 = 0 ; x = 1
  • 2x + 9 = 0 ; 2x = -9 ; x = -9/2
