$\sf \: x - 2 = 0\\ \sf \: x = 2 \\ \\ \sf( {2x}^{2} - 9x + 7) \\ = \sf \: 2 {(2)}^{2} - 9(2) + 7 \\ \sf = 2(4) - 18 + 7 \\ \sf = 8 - 18 + 7 \\ \sf = - 3$
