as the polynomial is divisible by 2x-1,so x=1/2 is the root of the polynomial. put x=1/2 in it.
2(1/2)^3+a(1/2)^2+11(1/2)+a+3=0
1/4+a/4+11/2+a+3=0
35/4+5a/4=0
5a/4=-35/4
a=-7
2(1/2)^3+a(1/2)^2+11(1/2)+a+3=0
1/4+a/4+11/2+a+3=0
35/4+5a/4=0
5a/4=-35/4
a=-7
