From (1), 2x = -3y

x = (-3y)/2 --- (3)

Substitute (3) in (2), we get

3[(-3y)/2] + 4y = 5

-9y/2 + 4y = 5

(-9y + 8y)/2 = 5     ---------- took LCM

-y/2 = 5

-y = 5*2

y = -10

When y = -10, (3) gives,

x = (-3)*(-10)/2

x = 30/2

x = 15
