Step-by-step explanation:

2x + 3y = 1

3x – 5y = 8

Eliminating x.

Multiplying the first eq. by 3 and second eq. by 2 so that the coefficient of x in both the equations becomes same.

3(2x + 3y = 1)=6x + 9y=3

2( 3x – 5y = 8)=6x – 10y=16

Subtracting the second eq. from the first eq. will give,

6x + 9y = 3

–(6x – 10y = 16)

______________

19y = –13

\sf y = - \dfrac{13}{19}

Substituting the value of y in 2x + 3y = 1 will give,

\sf 2x + 3 \Bigg ( - \dfrac{13}{19} \Bigg ) = 1

\sf \implies 2x - \dfrac{39}{19} = 1

\sf \implies 2x = 1 +  \dfrac{39}{19}

\sf \implies 2x = \dfrac{19+39}{19}

\sf \implies 2x = \dfrac{58}{19}

\sf \implies x = \dfrac{58}{2 \times 19} = \dfrac{29}{19}

 \boxed{ \sf x = \dfrac{29}{19}}

\boxed { \sf y = - \dfrac{13}{19}}

Hope it helps.
