From equation (2):-

x - y = 1

➝ x = 1 + y

putting the value of x in eqn (1):-

➝ 2(1+y) + 3y = 12

➝ 2 + 5y = 12

➝ 5y = 12 - 2

➝ 5y = 10

➝ y = 10/5

➝ y = 2

x - y = 2

➝ x - 2 = 2

➝ x = 2 + 2
