Solution

We have

2x + 3y = 13       (i)

x + 2y = 8          (ii)

Using Elimination method , Now Eliminate x we can write as

2x + 3y = 13       (i) × 1

x + 2y = 8          (ii) × 2

We get

2x + 3y = 13         (i)

2x + 4y = 16         (ii)

now subtract (ii) from (i)

2x + 3y - ( 2x + 4y ) = 13 - 16

2x + 3y - 2x - 4y = -3

-y = -3

y = 3

Now put the value of y on (i)eq

2x + 3y = 13       (i)

2x +3 × 3 = 13

2x + 9 = 13

2x = 13 - 9

2x = 4

x = 2

Answer

x = 2 and y = 3
