Answer:

2x+3y=20...(i)

6x-8y=26...(ii)

Multiplying (i) by 3 , we get,

6x + 9y = 60

Now subtracting (ii) from (i),

6x + 9y = 60

6x - 8y = 26 ( as we are subtracting.

so sign

× 17y = 34. will be '+' 18 and '- 26)

y = 2

putting y in in equation ( i)

2x + 3 × 2 = 20

2x + 6 = 20

2x = 20 - 6

2x = 14

x = 7

Ans x= 7, y= 2
