It is cramers rule.
let.
a1=2, b1=3 and c1=4 from eq. 2x+3y+4=0
and a2=1, b2=5 and c2=-11 from eq. x-5y-11=0

now, by cramers rule.
a1 b1
| a2 b2 |...these are determinants.
..
2 3
1 5
D=2×3 - 3×1 = 6-3=3

Dx=
3 4
-5 -11
= -33 -(4×-5)
=-33+20
Dx= -13
..
Dy
2 4
1 -11
=2×-11 - (4×1)
=-22-4
=-24
now
x=Dx/D= -13/3
y=Dy/D= -24/3= -8
: . x= -13/3
and y= -8.
