ANSWER:-

x=  \frac{ - 13}{10}

According to question:-

2x + 3y = 4

5y = 11

y =  \frac{11}{5}

Putting the value of y in the equation:-

2x + 3 \times  \frac{11}{5}  = 4

 \frac{2x}{1}  +  \frac{33}{5}  = 4

 =  \frac{10x + 33}{5}  = 4

 10x + 33 = 4 \times 5

10x + 33 = 20

10x = 20 - 33

10x =  - 13

x =  \frac{ - 13}{10}

Check

2 \times  \frac{ - 13}{10}  + 3 \times  \frac{11}{5}

 =  \frac{ - 13}{5}  +  \frac{33}{5}

 =  \frac{ - 13 + 33}{5}

 =  \frac{20}{5}

 = 4
