2x + 3y = 45 \:  \:  \:  \:  \: (1) \\ 3x + 6y = 78 \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \: (2) \\ (1) \times 2 \\    4x + 6y = 90  \:  \:  \:  \:  \: ( 3) \\ (3) - (2) \\ x = 12 \\ substituting \: this \: in \: eq \: (1) \\ 2(12) + 3y = 45 \\ 24 +  3y = 45 \\ 3y = 21 \\ y = 7

Therefore x = 12 & y = 7
