x + 5y = 4 ----------------(2)

from eq. 2

x + 5y = 4

x = 4 - 5y

put x in eq. 1

2x + 3y = 6

2(4 - 5y ) + 3y = 6

8 - 10y + 3y = 6

8 -7y = 6

-7y = 6 - 8

-7y = -2

y = 2/7

put y in eq. 2

x + 5y = 4

x + 5(2/7) = 4

x + 10/7 = 4

x = 4 - 10/7

x = (28 - 10)/7

x = 18/7
