SOLUTION

TO DETERMINE

The value of y when

 \sf{2x + 3y - 6z = 18 \:  \:  \:  \: }

 \displaystyle \sf{ 2y -  \frac{4}{3}  x + 4z = 12}

EVALUATION

Here the given two equations are

 \displaystyle \sf{   2  x + 3y  -  6z = 18 \:  \:  \:  -  -  -  -  - (1)}

 \displaystyle \sf{ 2y -  \frac{4}{3}  x + 4z = 12} \:  \:  -  -  -  - (2)

On simplification we get

 \displaystyle \sf{ 6y -  4  x + 12z = 36}

 \displaystyle \sf{ \implies \:  -  4  x + 6y + 12z = 36}

 \displaystyle \sf{ \implies \:  -  2  x + 3y + 6z = 18 \:  \:  \:  -  -  -  -  - (3)}

Equation (1) + Equation (3) gives

  \displaystyle \sf{ \implies \:  6y = 36}

  \displaystyle \sf{ \implies \:  y = 6}

FINAL ANSWER

Hence the required value of y = 6
