Step-by-step explanation:

2x - 3y + 8 = 0

x - 4y +7 =0

2x - 3y = -8 --------------------1

x - 4y = -7 ----------------------2

multiplying eqation 1 by 1 and equation 2 by 2

2x - 3y = -8

2x- 8y = -14

subtracting

5y = 6

y = 6/5

putting the value of y in equation 1

2x - 3(6/5) =-8

2x =-8 -18/5

2x = -22/5

x = -22/5*2

x = -11/5
