x-y = 1 eq - 2

from equation 2 :

x = 1+y

now substituting x = 1+y in equation 1

2 ( 1+y ) + 3y = 8

2+2y + 3y = 8

5y = 8-2

5y = 6

y = 6/5

now substituting y = 6/5 in equation 2

x - 6/5 = 1 (taking 5 as LCM)

(5x - 6)/5 = 1

now taking 5 to RHS

5x - 6 = 5

5x = 5 + 6

5x = 11

x = 11/5
