Step-by-step explanation:

Given 2x+3y=8 ......... (1)

x+y=5 ........... (2)

From (1), we have x=

2

8−3y

............ (3)

From (2), we have x=5−2y .......... (4)

Now, comparing the value of x, we get

2

8−3y

=5−2y

or 8−3y=10−4y

or 4y−3y=10−8

or y=2

Using y=2 in (4), x=5−2×2=1.

2x+3y=8

2x=8-3y

x=8-3y/2

x+y=12

put the value of x

8-3y/2+y=12

8-3y/2+2y/2=12

8-y/2=12

8-y=12×2

8-y=24

-y=24-8

y=-16

now put the value of y

x=8-3×(-16)/2

x=8+48/2

x=56/2

x=28

here is answer

y is -16 and x is 26
