Question:-

2x+4<4(x-5) solve for x

Answer:-

 • The solution set is {x: x > 12}

To find:-

 • Value of x

Solution:-

\large{ \tt : \implies \: \: \: \: 2x + 4 < 4(x - 5)}

\large{ \tt : \implies \: \: \: \: 2x + 4 < 4x - 20}

Subtract 4 on both sides,

\large{ \tt : \implies \: \: \: \: 2x + 4 - 4 < 4x - 20 - 4}

\large{ \tt : \implies \: \: \: \: 2x < 4x - 24}

Subtract 4x on both sides,

\large{ \tt : \implies \: \: \: \: 2x - 4x < 4x - 4x - 24}

\large{ \tt : \implies \: \: \: \: - 2x < - 24}

Divide each term by 2,

\large{ \tt : \implies \: \: \: \: \frac{ - 2x}{2} < \frac{ - 24}{2} } \\

\large{ \tt : \implies \: \: \: \: - x < - 12}

Multiplying both sides of an inequality by same negative number produces an inequality with its direction reversed .

\large{ \tt : \implies \: \: \: \: ( - 1)( - x) < ( - 1)( - 12)}

\large{ \tt : \implies \: \: \: \: x > 12}

Hence,

The solution set is {x: x > 12}
