-2x + 4y = 5 -(i)

4x + y = 5 -(ii)

eqn (i) x 2 --> -4x + 8y = 10

eqn (ii)       -->+ 4x  + 5y = 5

                 ---------------------------

                         0 + 13y = 15

                                  y = 15/13

                 ----------------------------

from eqn (i),

4x = 5 - y

4x = 5 - 15/13

4x = (65 - 15)/13

4x = 50/13

x = 50/52

x = 25/26

Answer:

4x + y = 5

4x = 5-y

x=\frac{5-y}{4}

-2x+4y=5

Replacing \: \: x \: \:with \: \frac{5-y}{4}

-2(\frac{5-y}{4})+4y=5

(\frac{5-y}{-2})+4y=5

(\frac{5-y-8y}{-2})=5

5-9y=-10

-9y=-15

y=15/9=5/3

4x+y=5

4x+\frac{5}{3}=5

\frac{12x+5}{3}=5

12x+5=15

12x=10

x=10/12=5/6
