6x+12y=18...........1st eq

(3x+5y=8)×2

6x+10y=16.............2nd eq

2nd eq-1st eq

6x+10y=16

6x+12y=18

-2y=-2

y=1

subtitute 'y' in 1st eq

6x+12(1)=18

6x+12=18

6x=18-12

6x=6

x=1
